2 UPDF members shot dead in Sajek

Two members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) were shot dead in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased are Deepayan Chakma, 40, and Ashish Chakma, 35.

Rangamati Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mohammad Shah Imran confirmed the incident.

The police recovered the bodies of the two people.

It is reported that two members of UPDF were killed on the spot when a group of masked armed miscreants suddenly came and fired bullets at Machalong Bridge area of Sajek around 2pm on Sunday.

Law and order forces surrounded the entire area after the incident. There is panic in the whole area.

Meanwhile, the UPDF has blamed the armed members of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) led by Santu Larma for this incident.

However, organizing secretary of Baghaichhari upazila branch of PCJSS Trideep Chakma denied such allegations. He said that there is no organizational activity of PCJSS in Sajek.
