Assam: ULFA Militants Kidnap Tinsukia Tea Estate Employee

A situation of hue-and-cry has erupted across Tinsukia district of Assam after a worker of the Dhola-situated Shankar Tea Estate was picked up by suspected ULFA militants on 11th October (Friday).
According to reports, Shankar Tea Estate worker Gaurang Chandra Dey was kidnapped at the around 6:30 pm in the evening on Friday by four ultras of the Independent wing of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). Dey was employed as a Head Feeder at the Shankar Tea Estate.
A security guard of the tea estate told mediapersons, “Four men came to the Estate with arms and ammunition and wanted to meet the manager. I went to meet the manager and told the manager that the men had brought arms. After the discussion, I saw that they moved to a dark area. They talked to the manager. They were wearing military fatigues, and took the man away.”
The kidnapped man’s daughter, while talking to the media said, “This is the fruit of my father’s labor. He has been picked up from his workplace. The owner has not given any response. They wanted to pick up the manager, but picked up my dad instead. The owner is not even here.”
Dey’s daughter has also demanded the owner of the tea estate to “He is 101% responsible for this. If he wants, he can bring my father back.” She also appealed the militants to return her dad, after talking to the tea estate owners.
