Case filed against BSF members for fatally shooting Bangladeshi

A case has been filed against members of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) over the death of a Bangladeshi man from Kurigram.

The case was filed by the victim’s parents with Rowmari police station on Tuesday (5th September).

Rup Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the police station, said the case was filed against unknown BSF members.

The victim, Manik Mina, 30, was killed by BSF firing along Behularchar border area of the district on Saturday.

Locals aid Manik along with 15-20 people went to the bordering area at 12:30am on Saturday.

The BSF members from Kuchnimara camp opened fire on them, leaving Manik dead on the spot. However, locals managed to bring his body back.

Meanwhile, a flag meeting was held between the BGB and the BSF on Monday afternoon over the killing, and BSF admitted to the shooting.

In this regard, lawyers said as the incident took place inside Bangladesh, a case can be filed.
