Daily Covid death toll drops below 100 for 1st time in 62 days

Bangladesh saw a significant fall in the number of daily Covid-19 deaths as 80 people died of the virus in the last 24 hours till Saturday 8am.
The single-day death toll reported today fell below 100 for the first time in more than two months as the health officials reported 77 deaths on 26 June.
With a declining trend in the death curve, the number of daily casualties fell below 200 on 13 August following the months-long nationwide lockdown.
Meanwhile, the number of daily cases dropped to 3,436 during the 24 hours period.
Bangladesh reported 117 deaths and 3,525 infections in the previous day.
So far, 25,926 people have died of the virus and 14,89,589 people were infected in the country.
Among the deaths reported today, 34 died in Dhaka division, 21 in Chattogram, nine in Khulna, six in Sylhet, four in Barishal, three in Rangpur, two in Mymensingh and one died in Rajshahi division.
Also, 4,861 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 94.61% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims’ gender breakdown shows that 16,857 of the total deceased across the country were men and 8,069 were women.
The country’s maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
