United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has announced a half-day road and waterway blockade in Rangamati for Monday protesting the murder of two people including its activists and demand the arrest and punishment of the killers.

The blockade will begin at 5am and continue till 12pm.

This information was provided in a press release by UPDF Press and Information Secretary Niran Chakma.

The organization also organized a protest rally in response to the killing of a UPDF member at Kutukchhari in Rangamati on Saturday.

UPDF Organizer Bablu Chakma during the rally urged the district residents to support the blockade.

On Saturday, armed miscreants attacked UPDF workers in Longadu. In the attack, UPDF activists Bidyadhan Tilak, 49, and Dhanyamoni Chakma, 32, were killed on the spot.

Langadu police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harunur Rashid suspects that the two men were killed by the members of the regional political group PCJSS (Santu Larma faction).
