Two held with 27 gold bars worth 2.56 cr in Jhenaidah

Border Guard Of Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested two man along with 27 gold bars weighing 3.14 kilograms worth 2.56 crore from Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah district on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested are Ruhul Amin and Saiful Islam, — both are resident of Kadirkol village under Kaliganj upazila of the district.
BGB-58 Director Lt Col Masud Parvej Rana said acting on a tip-off, a team of the battalion set a check post at Bakoshpata area of the upazila and arrested the duo along with the gold bars.
Later, the gold was deposited to Maheshpur Police Station, he said.
A case was filed with the police station against them and legal steps would be taken in this regard, the official added.
