Eleven Executive Directors of the World Bank visited Cox’s Bazar on 02 November 2019 to witness the impact of the Bank’s special additional funding for Rohingya refugees and the surrounding host community.

The delegation visited various facilities in the camps including learning centers, health centers where they spoke with the refugees and agencies supporting the operations in the camp. They also visited with local Bangladeshi communities.

“Local Bangladeshi people were able to speak directly with the Executive Directors about the changes and the challenges arising from the large Rohingya presence nearby” said Steven Corliss, UNHCR Representative to Bangladesh, who accompanied the visitors.

UNHCR and partner BRAC are providing essential livelihood support to the affected local Bangladeshi communities.
