Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at various fuel depots across the country to prevent illegal stockpiling, maintain discipline in fuel distribution, and ensure uninterrupted supply.

This information was confirmed by BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Saturday.

He said that amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, global fuel shortages and rising prices have led to attempts at unauthorized stockpiling. To counter this, BGB has been deployed under instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The deployment is being carried out under a well-planned structure supervised by BGB headquarters. Temporary base camps have been set up in secure locations to facilitate operations in areas far from unit headquarters.

Since the morning of Wednesday, BGB members have been deployed at a total of 19 depots across nine districts: one in Dhaka, two in Kurigram, three in Rangpur, three in Rajshahi, two in Sylhet, three in Moulvibazar, three in Comilla, one in Brahmanbaria, and one in Sunamganj.

The deployed personnel, led by officers, are performing regular monitoring and enforcing strict administrative and security measures from temporary base camps.

BGB’s visible presence in depot areas is helping ensure normal fuel supply and boosting public confidence.

Additionally, to prevent fuel smuggling across borders, enhanced patrols have been launched, including river patrols, establishment of checkpoints, and intensified intelligence surveillance in border areas. Monitoring has also been increased at land ports and border checkpoints, with regular inspections of trucks and other vehicles used in import-export activities.
