Indo-Thailand Military Exercise at Meghalaya

The Indo-Thailand joint military exercise Maitree 2019 has been ended with a good note at Umroi Military Station in Meghalaya.
Joint Military Exercise MAITREE-2019 between India and Thailand was conducted at Foreign Training Node, Umroi (Meghalaya) from 16-29 September, 2019. The Exercise was conducted to develop defense cooperation and bilateral relations between the two nations. With an aim to share experience in combat mechanism and enhance the level of defence co-operation, Indian and Royal Thailand Army (RTA) comprising 50 soldiers each will participate in the exercise. The exercise scope covers company level joint training on counter terrorism operations in jungle and urban scenario. Exercise MAITREE is conducted alternatively in Thailand and India since 2006. Exercise MAITREE is important for both nations with the changing facets of global terrorism.
An IAF Mi 17 took part in Indo-Thailand Joint Ex Maitree 2019 on 27th September (Friday) at Umroi. The helicopter inserted mixed sticks comprised of Indian Army and Royal Thai Army soldiers into the mock operational area. The helicopter flew tactically and troops were given the practice of “low hover jump” from the helicopter. The sticks dismounted tactically and secured the Drop Zone. After all the sticks were successfully inducted, the troops regrouped, re-established Command and Control and moved tactically for the next training assignment.
