All banks in Myanmar were forced to halt their operations nationwide on Monday, as internet access was blocked following the military coup in the morning.

The Myanmar Banks Association issued a statement on Monday morning advising that all its member banks had agreed to suspend their banking operations from Feb. 1 due to the system-wide disruption caused by the lack of internet access.
