News Desk:

The troops of the Army have launched a massive search operation in the jungles of Tirap, Longding and Changlang Districts to nab the perpetrators of the killing of NPP MLA Tirong Aboh and ten innocent civilians (including members of the MLAs family and security personnel) in the area of 12 Mile, near Khonsa located in Arunachal’s Tirap district.

Indian Army sources have confirmed that all the likely routes of escape which could be used by the militants have been effectively blocked. Intensive checks along the Nagaland-Arunachal borders have also been implemented.

The Army has intensified operations with increased area domination teams and mobile check posts being deployed all along these and adjoining districts of Nagaland.

Moreover, the Army is working closely in synergy with the police, civil administration and intelligence agencies to identify the insurgents involved in the brutal killings.

The Indian Army has assured that it will soon track down and bring to justice all perpetrators involved in the assassination of the sitting MLA.

Aboh was the sitting NPP MLA from Khonsa West assembly constituency and was seeking re-election from Khonsa West assembly seat.

Aboh was killed at around 11:30 am on Tuesday in a militant attack near Bogapani village at Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh. He was heading to Khonsa from Dibrugarh district in Assam when he was cornered by militants who opened fire.

It is suspected that Aboh’s assassination is the handiwork of NSCN cadres who had earlier been threatening the MLA. Many leaders such as Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Arunachal Pradesh Cheif Minister Pema Khandu, and NPP President have come forward to condemn the incident.
