JSS(R) Chief Tatindro Lal Pele Expired – End of a Notable Episode in the History of CHT

JSS(R) chief Mr. Tatindro Lal Pele (70) has been expired in Chittagong medical college hospital(CMCH) on 13 August 2020. He had been suffering from lung and heart diseases for long days. Recently, his health condition got deteriorated. He was hospitalized initially at Khagrachari sadar hospital, later on he was transferred to CMCH. According to the doctors, he was improving, suddenly he died due to massive MI. Earlier Mr. Pele was admitted in Khagrachari sadar hospital due to his unstable health condition. Later on, he was evacuated to CMCH on 08 August. Although he was COVID-19 negative, his oxygen saturation was getting alarmingly down. However, after getting treatment in CMCH for five days, this great personality was expired.

The central leaderships of JSS(R) has decided Mr. Subhash Kanti Chakma as acting President after the death of Mr. Tatindro Lal Pele. Mr. Subhash was the Assistant President so far. He has a background of Santi Bahini and popularly known as “Porichoy”.

Late Mr. Pele was a leader of great personality. Since the period of Santi Bahini, he had an effective influence over his activists/followers. He was awarded with a local rank as ‘Major’ in Santi Bahini. He was very courageous and an efficient guerilla fighter. He was an idol in front of many tribal youths and CHT regional political party activists. As an important commander of Santi Bahini Mr. Pele operated almost all the places of CHT. At the initial stage of Santi Bahini movement, he also fought against the Naxtal miscreants in Kaptai and Rajestholi area.

After the CHT accord, Mr. Pele took the side of JSS main stream regional politics. It continued for more than ten years. In 2010, the front ranking leaders of JSS got separated due to adamant and non-cooperative attitude of Mr. Santu Larma. Although, Mr. Pele along with other senior leaders of JSS formed a new platform, they did not leave their basic ideology. The newly formed platform consider MN Larma to be their leader; Mr. Tatindro Lal Pele’s JSS(R) is also known as JSS(MN Larma).
