Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 26 bottles of Indian liquor during an anti-smuggling operation in the border area of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is Tk 39,000.
The operation was conducted at around 4:30 am on Tuesday in North Andharmanik, near the Andharmanik border area of Fatikchhari. A patrol team from Andharmanik Border Outpost (BOP), operating under the Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB), carried out the operation and recovered the liquor.
According to the BGB, the seizure was part of its ongoing efforts to prevent cross-border smuggling, strengthen border security and curb illegal activities in the area.
The Ramgarh Battalion has maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards smuggling and other cross-border offences, with patrols and intelligence operations continuing across its area of responsibility to detect and prevent illicit activities.
The BGB also remains engaged in efforts to prevent drug trafficking, human trafficking and illegal border crossings while safeguarding the country’s borders.
The battalion has urged residents of border communities and members of the public to provide information about suspicious activities and suspected smuggling operations to help the authorities prevent cross-border crimes and maintain security in the region.
