Suhas Chakma Appeals to Mizoram CM for the Chakma Community Interest

Human Rights Activist Suhas Chakma has written to Mizoram CM Zoramthanga over non-appropriation of Funds to Chakma NGOs meant to assist stranded residents during Lockdown.

According to him, Chakmas are about 10% of the total population of Mizoram and hundreds of them are also outside the State. As there are limited socialisation between communities, only giving grants to the Mizo NGOs are not enough to reach out to non-Mizos like the Chakmas.

Suhas Chakma also requested to grant such assistance to the standed Chakmas through the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC). Besides CADC, the assistance might reach through MNF or directly to the Chakma NGOs like the Young Chakma Association, Chakma Mahila Samiti etc.
