Lightest Surveillance Drone “Bharat” has been issued to Indian Army

Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has provided its indigenously-developed drone – Bharat – to the Indian Army to conduct accurate surveillance in high altitude areas and mountainous terrain along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.
The DRDO Bharat is a light surveillance quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicle developed for the Indian Army by the Defence Research and Development organization for the Indian Army. The drone has been created specifically by a Chandigarh-based laboratory of the DRDO for carrying out accurate surveillance in high altitude areas and mountainous terrain along India’s lines of control with Pakistan and China.
It is equipped with night vision capabilities and its stealthy design ensures that its signature remains undetected from enemy radars. It is integrated with Artificial Intelligence to detect friends and foes and act accordingly. It is the world’s most agile and lightest surveillance drone and is capable of surviving in extreme weather conditions along the LAC. The unibody biomimetic design with advance technology is a lethal combination for surveillance missions. Last month, China developed an unmanned helicopter AR500C that can help in missions in high altitude border areas and is capable of keeping watch on the skies for extended periods and patrol locations that are harsh for infantry troops to cover by foot.
With transgression by the Chinese troops along the border, the drone also provides real-time video transmission and is capable of detecting humans hidden under deep forest covers.
DRDO sources said, “The small yet powerful drone works autonomously at any location with great accuracy. The unibody biomimetic design with advance release technology is a lethal combination for surveillance missions”.
The drone is equipped with artificial intelligence that helps it to detect friends and enemies and take action accordingly. The drone can survive in extreme cold weather temperature and is being developed further for even harsher weather. The drone has been built in a way that makes it impossible to be detected by Radar.
