BGB detains Indian national at Kurigram’s Roumari border for illegal entry

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an Indian national for illegally entering Bangladesh through Roumari border in Kurigram today (29 January).
The detainee is Pasan Ali (33), son of late Sattar Ali from Kuadanga village of Dubri district in India’s Assam, said Khaledur Rahman, Subedar of Dantbhanga BGB camp.
A team of patrolling BGB members detained Pasan Ali from Degree Char border area under Dantbhanga union in Roumari upazila in the morning, he said.
The Indian national entered Bangladesh territory crossing a river in the border area in the early hours of today.
The detainee is allegedly involved in smuggling in the border, the BGB official said, adding the man has been handed over to Roumari Police Station this noon.
Mantaser Billah, officer-in-charge of Roumari Police Station, said a case was filed against the Indian national for illegally entering Bangladesh.
He will be produced before a court in Kurigram tomorrow morning, the OC told our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
