Jhenaidah Cadet College, run by the Bangladesh Army, has brought international glory to the nation by securing first place in the “Living in a Healthy Space 2024” global design competition, organized by the National Space Society (NSS), USA.
The college triumphed in the Grade 9 (Large Team) category with its innovative project titled “Stellar Sanctuaries: Orchestrating Effervescent Health with Celestial Garden.” The project stood out for its creative and practical solutions focused on food security, optimal use of limited resources, and sustainable waste management in outer space.
This prestigious competition saw participation from 9,028 students representing 1,641 institutions across 11 countries, competing in 7 major categories and 21 subcategories. Among hundreds of submissions, the project from Bangladesh earned top honors — a testament to the ingenuity and scientific potential of its youth.
The brilliant minds behind this remarkable achievement are: Cadets Arian Hossain Sahir, Iftekhar Mahmud Asif, Rafan Mashroor Haque, Tashrif Hasan, S K Ahnaf Haque, and Zisan Mahmud. These students worked diligently for over a year, and their creativity and scientific acumen have now received global recognition.
The initiative was further supported by JEXCA, the alumni association of ex-cadets, under whose patronage the college established its robotics lab “Automatos 27”, which served as the springboard for this international endeavor.
This outstanding achievement not only reflects the potential, talent, and resilience of Bangladesh’s youth but also serves as an inspiration for future scientists, innovators, and space researchers.
