Assam Rifles, one of India’s premier paramilitary forces, recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a well-coordinated search operation in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, along the Miao-Vijaynagar axis near MS 38.

The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs indicating the possible presence of illegal weapons in the area. Security officials deployed specialized search teams equipped with advanced surveillance equipment and tracker dogs to carry out the operation in the remote, forested terrain.

During the thorough search, forces recovered six firearms, including two AK-series rifles, one locally fabricated 7.62 mm rifle, one Lathode, and one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL). In addition to the weapons, a substantial amount of ammunition and other war-like stores were also seized.

Security analysts suggest that the weapons cache may be linked to insurgent activity in the region, as Arunachal Pradesh’s eastern districts bordering Myanmar are known hotspots for various armed separatist and militant groups.

The Assam Rifles have intensified surveillance and counter-insurgency efforts in the region in recent months, aiming to disrupt cross-border arms trafficking and militant infiltration along the sensitive India-Myanmar frontier.

While this incident took place in Indian territory, the growing presence of armed groups and illegal arms movement near the international border continues to be a concern for regional stability in South Asia.
