20 arrested in case over killing of RAB member in Chittagong’s Jungle Salimpur

A total of 20 individuals have so far been arrested in separate drives in connection with the murder of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member DAD Abdul Motaleb in Jungle Salimpur of Sitakunda, Chittagong. Of them, 13 were arrested by RAB-7 and seven by the Chittagong District Police.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by RAB-7 Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozzaffer Hossain on Saturday afternoon.
According to RAB, members of RAB-7 conducted an operation in the Jungle Salimpur area on January 19 to apprehend armed criminals. During the drive, the criminals launched a sudden attack on the RAB personnel, leaving four members seriously injured. They were later taken to Chittagong CMH, where the on-duty doctor declared DAD Abdul Motaleb dead.
Following the incident, RAB-7 filed a murder case with Sitakunda Police Station on January 22, naming 29 individuals and accusing 150 to 200 unidentified persons.
RAB-7 has since conducted multiple drives at different times, arresting several accused. Most recently, on March 27, listed accused Md Parvez, 35, was arrested from Nobogram in Kabirhat, Noakhali, in a joint operation with RAB-11 Narayanganj. On the same day, Md Belal, 30, was arrested from Udalia in Chittagong, and Saidul Islam, 26, from the Shershah Banglabazar area of the city.
Earlier, on March 23, Mizanur Rahman Sohan, 19, was arrested from the Faujdarhat area of Sitakunda. Additionally, throughout February and January, further operations were carried out across various police station jurisdictions in Chittagong metropolitan area, Sitakunda, Cox’s Bazar, and Noakhali, leading to the arrest of several other named and absconding suspects identified during the investigation.
Other arrested accused include Selim, Sekendar Mia alias Yakub, Yunus Ali Hawladar, Khandakar Zahid Hossain, Aliraj Hasan alias Sagar, Mizan, Mamun, Shahjahan, and Shafiqul Islam alias Master Shafiqul Islam.
