Most Vulnerable Families to get Solidarity Package in Khagrachhari

At least 3,452 most vulnerable families from five unions in Sadar upazila of Khagrachhari district received solidarity package (Food & Seed Package) on 29th July. Considering COVID-19 pandemic, the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) affairs ministry has taken the imitative under the Strengthening Inclusive Development (SID) project that is being implemented in the CHT with the financial assistant of DANIDA-USAID of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Khagrachhari district Awami League (AL) Secretary Nirmulendhu Chowdhury has distributed the solidarity package at Sadar upazila.
“We expressed our gratitude to the CHT Affairs Ministry and the international donor agency DANIDA-USAID as they stood beside our poorest section with food and seed,” Nirmulendhu Chowdhury said urging people to use each inch of uncultivable land to prevent food crisis.
He also urged hill people to use mask, to follow health rules and to maintain social distance to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila chairman Mohammad Shaney Alam and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanchita Karmakar and District Facilitator of Activating Village Court project of UNDP Subash Chakma attended the programme.
SID-CHTDF UNDP district Manager Priyator Chakma said they have planned to distribute solidarity package to 3,024 vulnerable families at Dighinala upazila while 2,599 at Matiranga, 1,761 at Laxmichhari, 1,596 at Ramgarh, 2,636 at Guimara, 3,452 at Khagrachhari, 3,405 at Mohalchhari, 2,962 at Panchhari and 1,565 vulnerable families at Manikchhari upazila in the district till August 18.
