Army emerge champions in nat’l shooting

Army Shooting Association emerged champions in the 30th National Shooting Competition as the six-day long tournament ended at the Gulshan Shooting Range on Friday.

Army shooters bagged 17 medals — four gold, eight silver, and five bronze — while the Navy Shooting Club secured 10 medals — three gold, three silver, and four bronze — to finish as runners-up in the competition.

Ansar (one gold, two bronze) and Chittagong Rifle Club (one gold, one bronze) finished in the third and fourth places respectively.

BKSP Shooting Club, Metropolitan Shooting Club of Chittagong, and Rajdhani Shooting Club bagged one gold medal each to place fifth to seventh, respectively, while Dhaka Rifle Club bagged one silver medal to place eighth.

A total of 313 shooters from the country’s 33 rifle/shooting clubs took part in the competition, where the Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation used electronic target paper for the first time on the national stage.
