Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) returned Indian Border Security Force (BSF) constable Upal Kumar Das after a flag meeting and other formalities, about six hours after his detention.
He was handed over at the Chanderhat border of Pirganj in Thakurgaon district around 5pm on Tuesday.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahsanul Islam, commander of BGB 42 Battalion, earlier confirmed that the BSF member was detained by the BGB at the Biral border in Thakurgaon for illegal border crossing.
At around 11am, BSF member Upal Kumar Das entered Bangladesh territory through the area of sub-pillar 6 of the main pillar 434 at the border area. Although BSF member Upal Kumar was in uniform, he was unarmed. After his detention, BGB members brought him to the camp.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahsanul Islam said that the BSF member had entered Bangladesh territory while chasing cattle.
