Closing Ceremony of Exercise Tiger Lightning-2025 Held in Sylhet

The closing ceremony of the joint military exercise “Exercise Tiger Lightning (TL)-2025”, conducted by the Bangladesh Army and the United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC), was held today at Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet.
The week-long exercise began on July 24, 2025, and marked another milestone in bilateral military cooperation between the two nations.

The ceremony was attended by Major General Md Faizur Rahman, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Sylhet Area, along with Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, as the distinguished guests. High-ranking military officials from both countries, including representatives from the Armed Forces Division, Army Headquarters, and commanders from the Sylhet region, were also present.

The exercise featured the participation of 100 personnel from the Bangladesh Army’s Para-Commando Brigade and 66 troops from the U.S. Nevada National Guard. Over the course of the training, participants engaged in joint tactical drills focusing on counterterrorism, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, and strategic interoperability. The drills aimed to enhance coordination, responsiveness, and operational readiness in addressing both regional and global security challenges.

During the ceremony, each participant was awarded a certificate of completion in recognition of their successful participation in the exercise. Additionally, all members received commemorative insignias as a token of appreciation and mutual respect.
Exercise Tiger Lightning-2025 highlights the enduring defense partnership between Bangladesh and the United States, rooted in shared goals of promoting peace, security, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Officials stated that such joint exercises significantly contribute to the professional development of military personnel and further strengthen bilateral military relations.
