AAMSU’s allegations of harassment of Muslims over NRC

The Kokrajhar District Committee of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) responded to the accusations of the All Assam Minorities Students Union (AAMSU) who had alleged that both the AASU and ABSU have been hounding innocent Muslim people in the name of National Register of Citizens (NRC).
“A section of so-called ethnic organization utilized the people of the backward places to file claims and objection”, AAMSU’s Chief Advisor Azizur Rahman had said.
regarding the objection raised by some person who targeted a family of minority community believing him to be a suspected Indian National.
In a statement undersigned by Kokrajhar ABSU GS Swmdwn Brahma, the ABSU stated that the Union has no such intention of “harassing any common people, community, caste, creed, and sex in the name of NRC Objection Process who are genuinely a citizen of India.”
Further, they clarified that the Union does not have any direct or indirect involvement in the incident of Bhalukjhora village where one Charan Mushahary alleged that the Nalbari Anchalik ABSU boys compelled him to file a complaint against some minority community people.
The ABSU further stated that there may be a conspiracy of some organization or any other individual person for their vested interest for bringing bad names in condemnation of ABSU in the area.
“The Union only appealed to all people of Assam to stand for the error-free NRC updating process and to raise voice against any illegal citizen against whom there is clear evidence with him as to his citizenship”, read the communique issued by the ABSU.
