Tripura: 3 nabbed with country-made gun, Bangladeshi currency

The Tripura Police on Saturday arrested three persons with a country-made gun and other sharp weapons from a private residence in the Kalacherra area of South Tripura district.
According to sub-divisional police officer Nirdesh Deb, the trio were arrested from the residence of Jarmaram Tripura in Chuto Sagbari area on the basis of a tip-off. “However, we could not find Tripura, [as he] managed to flee from home,” the police added. They had been suspecting him of illegal activities after a theft case in the area.
He said that three persons — Amit Tripura, Bahadur Tripura and Joel Tripura — were detained from his house during the raid, after recovering a country-made pistol, 16 rounds of cartridge, Bangladeshi currency and other tools along with sharp weapons from their possession. All of them are residents of the same area.
The police, after preliminary investigation, also found that Amit Tripura alias Swarna Kumar Tripura had fled from Central Jail in Agartala in 2015 while he was in imprisoned with charges of a police constable’s murder.
During interrogation, it was found that the trio were involved in theft cases across the area and were also involved in making country-made gun and selling them in market.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Railway Police Force recovered five pistols and six magazines from Agartala Railway Station and nabbed three persons including one woman.
The three were identified as Lorence Debbarma, Vinod Debbarma of Sepahijala District and Saila Rani Chakma of Natun Bazaar in Gomati district of Tripura.
Reportedly, Saila Rani boarded the train from Lumding railway station and was about to supply the arms to the two youths at Agartala station. But, due to strong information she was under scanner of RPF.
