Recent shutdown of mobile data services in Rakhine will get priority in Global Media Freedom Conference

Ahead of the Global Media Freedom Conference, nine Myanmar delegates including journalists, publishers and civil society attended a roundtable meeting with the British and Canadian Ambassadors to discuss ongoing issues around media freedom and freedom of expression in the country this week.

Delegates and embassy officials raised concerns about recent prosecutions brought against journalists, and by the recent shutdown of mobile data services in parts of Rakhine and Chin State. We are pleased to be helping journalists from Myanmar attend the world’s first ever ministerial summit promoting media freedom.
