AASU Demands Deportation of Illegal Bangladeshi Buddhist Monks from Assam

All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has demanded deportation of illegal Bangladeshi Buddhist monks from Assam.

The Margherita wing of AASU has also demanded verification of passport and visa of Buddhist monks residing in Margherita. AASU members staged a protest against the entrance of such monks Infiltrators in front of Margherita Sub Divisional office (Civil).

Prashanta Gogoi and Chintu Gogoi both President and General Secretary of AASU Margherita Regional Committee said, “Bangladeshi Buddhist monks are illegally staying at Buddha Vihar of Margherita Subdivision in Tinsukia district and many areas of Assam by wearing Saffron Robes which is very unfortunate and illegal.”

“The suspected Bangladeshi Buddhist monks’ visa and passport should be verified by Government Authorities else many untoward incidents may occur at Margherita Sub-division and Assam,” they added.

The AASU leaders further demanded immediate deportation of all illegal suspected Bangladeshi Buddhist monks from Margherita Sub-division and Assam.

A memorandum has also been submitted to the Margherita Sub-divisional officer (Civil) demanding the same.
