February 25 declared National Martyred Army Day to mark 2009 BDR mutiny

The government has declared February 25 as National Martyred Army Day for official observance, marking the tragic mutiny of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in 2009.
The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.
The BDR mutiny, also known as the Pilkhana tragedy or Pilkhana massacre, was a mutiny that took place on February 25-26, 2009, in Dhaka.
A faction of the BDR, a paramilitary force primarily responsible for border security, staged the rebellion, resulting in the brutal killing of 74 people, including 57 army officers.
The notification states that the day will be observed as a Category C day. There will be no public holiday on this day.
