Clash Between Two Terrorist Groups in Khagrachhari: Chakma Housewife Killed

In the remote hills of Khagrachhari, a violent clash occurred between two regional organizations, the Proshit Panti-led UPDF and the JSS faction of Santu Larma. As a result of the gunfight, a Chakma housewife has been reported dead, although local police have yet to confirm the death due to the inaccessibility of the area. While the news has spread, authorities are still unable to verify the exact details of the incident.
The gunfight took place on Monday, March 3, in Dudukchhara Hatimara village, located in the Panchhori Upazila of Khagrachhari district.
The deceased woman has been identified as Rupshi Chakma, the wife of Hemanta Chakma, a local resident.
According to local sources, the fighting began around 8 AM when armed members of JSS launched a sudden attack on a position held by UPDF forces. The area quickly turned into a battlefield as both sides exchanged over 200 rounds of gunfire. Casualties have been reported on both sides, although the exact number is still unclear.
During the conflict, Rupshi Chakma, a housewife, was shot when she stepped outside her home. She was struck by a bullet fired by the terrorists, leading to her immediate death.
Both UPDF and JSS have taken to social media to accuse each other of responsibility for the incident. JSS claims that UPDF members were killed in the clash, while UPDF supporters argue that JSS suffered greater losses.
The Officer-in-Charge of Panchhori Police Station, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, confirmed the news of the gunfight in North Dudukchhara area, but added that the remote location made it difficult for authorities to confirm further details. While the police have yet to verify the casualties of the armed groups, they have confirmed the tragic death of the housewife. Due to the difficult terrain, police have not been able to reach the site yet.
