Naga Peace Talks: Manipur to Hold Massive Protest on Oct 31

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has announced to stage a protest rally on October 31 Thursday in Manipur against Indo-Naga peace talks that could affect the territorial integrity of the state.
COCOMI urged the people of the state to unite and join the protest and the body also hinted that anything can happen and appealed the people to be on “high alert”.
A candlelight vigil was also organized Naga Students’ Federation in this regard on Sunday evening.
It may be mentioned here that The women of Ima Keithel have also submitted a memorandum to the Governor stating that the territorial integrity of Manipur should not be compromised.
Meanwhile, the Government’s interlocutor R N Ravi has set a deadline of 31 October for signing the final agreement of the ‘Naga Peace Talks’. Because of that, apprehensions are running high in Manipur as the public fears that the ‘final solution’ may disintegrate or compromise the territorial integrity of the State.
The state of Manipur, home to a sizable Naga population, has been gripped by panic ahead of the ‘final Naga solution’ amid talks between the Centre and the largest Naga organization, the NSCN (IM).
Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) is formed by major CSOs of the State (AMUCO, CCSK, HERICOUN, LIPUN and UCM) as a preemptive measure in view of the ‘final solution’ of the 22 years long political dialogue between GoI and NSCN (IM).
