The Bangladesh Army has been playing a significant role in seizing illegal weapons as part of its efforts to maintain peace and order in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This is to ensure the safety of local hill and Bengali communities, promote social development, and cooperate in the implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement.

A special army unit led by Captain Shah Abdul Awal Hasemi, based on intelligence information, conducted an operation in the Chitar Dak area of Banduk Bhanga Union on Thursday. During the operation, the army recovered one .22 Long Rifle (Czechoslovakia), one ceiling, 20 rounds of ammunition, and one magazine.

Although one armed member of the UPDF was expected to surrender during the military operation, he later fled instead of surrendering.

The seized illegal weapons and ammunition are in the process of being handed over to the police station.

The operations carried out by the Rangamati Zone under the 24th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army will continue to ensure peace and order in the Chittagong Hill Tracts area.

These operations, which target the recovery of illegal weapons and ammunition, the arrest of armed militants, and the capture of extortionists, have been widely welcomed by the local community, bringing a sense of relief.
