Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that the Bangladesh Navy has transformed into a modern, technology-based, and three-dimensional force capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century.

He made the remarks while addressing the Bangladesh Navy’s Summer Presidential Parade as the chief guest at the Chittagong Naval Academy on Sunday morning.

The army chief emphasized that young officers must always be ready to defend the country’s sovereignty by upholding the values of honesty, discipline, and self-sacrifice.

“The Navy continues to play a vital role in safeguarding the sovereignty of the country’s maritime borders, protecting marine resources, combating sea crimes, and promoting good governance,” he added.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman reminded the newly recruited cadets of their sacred duties to the country and the nation, urging them to carry out their responsibilities with utmost sincerity.

“Discipline and dedication to duty are two essential foundations for achieving professional excellence and becoming an ideal troop,” he said.

The parade began with the army chief inspecting the formations from a jeep, followed by salutes from eight platoons of new officers.

Following the completion of their extensive training, the army chief presented awards to those who demonstrated outstanding performance.

A total of 52 new naval officers were commissioned at the ceremony, including 44 midshipmen and eight direct entry officers.

Among them, eight are women and four are foreign naval officers.
