The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), in association with the Bangladesh Army, observed the Olympic Day 2025 as part of the global programme of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The event was held to commemorate the IOC’s founding anniversary on 23 June, says a press release issued by ISPR.
Chief of Army Staff and BOA President General Waker-uz-Zaman formally inaugurated the programme as its chief guest.
Held under the theme “Let’s Move”, the events aimed to encourage athletes and the general public to engage in physical activities and sports, while also inspiring others to adopt a more active lifestyle.
As part of the celebrations, simultaneous rallies were held in all seven divisional cities, supported by respective divisional sports associations.
In Dhaka, the central rally began at 6:30am from the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and proceeded through the Education Building, Bangladesh Secretariat, Zero Point, and GPO before concluding at Gate No. 1 of the National Stadium.
Over 2,000 participants, including national-level athletes, coaches, organisers, officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council, as well as members of various military and civilian organisations, took part in the event.
Following the rally, a cultural programme was held at the National Stadium, performed by the Bangladesh Army orchestra. The Army Chief also presented special honours and certificates to Olympians present at the event.
Participants praised the vibrant and festive atmosphere and expressed gratitude to the BOA and Bangladesh Army for organising the celebration.
